Luke Mey and Michael Finlayson (18) were arrested for growing dagga indoors in Kabegapark, Port Elizabeth.
Police raided the indoor grow-op on a rented property in Theescombe at 6 am on Wednesday morning.
“Take a photo of me and all my lovely dagga trees, please, before the police takes them away. This is part of my journey”, Said one daggafarian.
“I use dagga for stress and only sold the herb to two of my friends” Said the other.
The entry to the indoor setup was hidden behind a closet. A hole in the wall led to three rooms retrofitted with all the necessary equipment for growing plants indoors.
“The estimated value of the equipment and plants seized is about R35 000. The grow-op has been going for about a year and this high-grade dagga sold for about R500 for a small bag.” said Captain Johan Rheeder
Both men are due to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s court.
