The Cannabis Development Council of South Africa (CDCSA) in the Northern Cape is ready to revolutionise the cannabis industry in the province, the association said at an electoral meeting held in Barkley West and a presentation in Kimberley in the Northern Cape over the weekend.
The provincial CDCSA-association comprises of more than 80 members from three municipal districts throughout the Northern Cape, with two more districts to follow.
The members come from various sectors of the community, and they include entrepreneurs, farmers, natural healers, plant scientists, lawyers, artists, and ordinary individuals. Each possessing the skills and the eagerness required to lead cannabis research and industry in the province.
Members elected five representatives for the provincial structure in each district. The following members were elected on Saturday in Barkley West for the Dikgatlong district:
- Mbulelo Leeuw (chairperson )
- Serame Leeuw (deputy chairperson)
- Kaelo Bogote (secretary)
- Kelebogile Tsinyane (deputy secretary)
- Kabelo Mojanaga (treasurer)
- Dr. Keitumetse Mashope (plant scientist)
- Vuyani Mabe (Legal advisor)
- Rochester Mafafo (IKS)
- Dr Langa (IKS healer)
The following members were elected on Sunday in Kimberley for the Sol Plaatje district:
- Tshenolo Matheatau chairperson
- Leonard Louw deputy chairperson
- Gopolang Mokopaneng secretary
- Nkosinathi Fanele deputy secretary
- Michael Mabemba Treasurer
- Straus Solomons (IKS healer)
- Tebogo Maditsi (IKS Rasta)
- Kgosi Sehunelo (IKS leader)
The provincial treasurer of the CDCSA, Kabelo Mojanaga, said they have access to about 2000 ha of land to industrialise cannabis in the launch phase.
The annual general meeting of the CDCSA will be on 7 September 2019 in Kimberley to finalise the elected members who will lead the province for the next five years.
Mojanaga said they will soon be meeting with various stakeholders including the department of agriculture, health, trade and industry, tourism, environmental affairs, and the SAPS.
Mojanaga encourages investors, entrepreneurs, businessmen, and people of all sectors of the province who have skills or other resources, and who want to promote and become part of a legal dagga industry, to act swiftly and join the provincial association.
