Man experimenting with dagga extractions arrested

A 56-year-old man from Gansbaai has been arrested for allegedly dealing in dagga after police discovered a “fully-fledged laboratory” equipped with apparatus for THC and CBD extraction.

Colonel Katlego Mogale, police spokesperson, says the Western Cape, Hawks’ Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), executed a search and seizure operation on Thursday afternoon in the company of Crime Intelligence and Gansbaai SAPS, at a house in Marine drive, Danger Point. One suspect was arrested after a clandestine cannabis laboratory was uncovered.

He says: “The fully-fledged laboratory equipped with manufacturing apparatus was dismantled. A number of cannabis concentrates, including flammable liquid, oil and equipment that is used to extract and process Cannabidiol (CBD), and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), were seized for further investigation. The seized items are estimated to be valued at approximately R600 000-00.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Hermanus Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2020, for drug dealing, ends Col Mogale.
